Bauer adds local news to Hits Radio UK in Scotland
Local news, weather and traffic are now available on Hits Radio UK in Scotland, following changes by Bauer Media Audio.
The move sees new local DAB versions of the national station introduced for Glasgow, Edinburgh, Tayside, and the North of Scotland, bringing the service into line with how Hits Radio already operates in England, Wales and Northern Ireland.
The Scottish services sit alongside Bauer’s established local stations including Northsound, Tay, MFR, Clyde 1 and Forth 1, with the latest change focused on adding locally relevant information rather than altering the national playlist and schedule.
Scotland and NI remain the only places where the Hits Radio playlist is available under different names, one being the established brand on FM and DAB, the other being Hits Radio on DAB.
The UK schedule, including Fleur East, Will and James at Breakfast, will continue to air from London on local DAB multiplexes whilst the Scottish breakfast shows with Boogie airs on the heritage FM service from Edinburgh and Bowie at Breakfast from Glasgow on Clyde 1.
A spokesperson for Bauer Media Audio told RadioToday listeners north of the border began the New Year with access to local information on Hits Radio for the first time.
