STV promised a radio miracle in Scotland.. and delivered

Scotland has a new national radio station, launched today with a live breakfast show led by Ewen Cameron and Cat Harvey.

The pair went on air at 8am from STV Radio’s new studios at Pacific Quay in Glasgow, marking the official start of the service and the return of the presenters to a national breakfast slot focused on music and conversation made in Scotland.

Describing the moment as historic, Ewen and Cat thanked listeners for joining them from the outset and set out their plans for a station built around variety, personality and a broader approach to music, aimed at standing apart from more repetitive playlists elsewhere on the dial.

The first track played was a specially recorded acoustic version of Promised You a Miracle by Simple Minds, featuring KT Tunstall.

The song choice was intended to reflect the station’s Scottish roots while signalling a fresh sound for a national audience.

KT joined the programme from New Mexico and described the station as “an amazing connector”, adding that hearing real people share their passion for music remains central to radio’s appeal.

Further support came during the programme from across the Scottish music and broadcasting community. Ricky Ross appeared live on the show, while recorded messages were played from The Proclaimers, Marti Pellow and Amy Macdonald.

STV Radio’s wider schedule brings together established Scottish radio voices including Greigsy, Webster, Jodie McCluskey and Micky Gavin, alongside familiar television faces such as Jane McCarry and weather presenter Sean Batty. Music spans the 80s, 90s and 2000s, under the slogan Never the Same Song, All Day Long.

Ewen and Cat at Breakfast airs weekdays from 6am to 10am. The station is available across Scotland on DAB, via STV Player, online and on smart speakers.
