New significant podcast company launched
A new production company from Elis James and John Robins will focus on expanding comedy and entertainment audio projects beyond their existing shows.
The launch of Significant Productions brings together Elis James, John Robins and long-time producer Dave Masterman, with the aim of developing new podcast and digital formats while continuing to grow titles already familiar to UK listeners.
The company begins operations with The Elis James and John Robins Show, alongside the return of wellbeing podcast How Do You Cope? later this month. The Socially Distant Sports Bar, hosted by Elis James with Mike Bubbins and Steff Garrero, has also joined the network.
The trio have worked together for more than a decade and have been behind several established podcast titles during that time. While the initial slate draws heavily on their own output, the stated intention is to build a broader catalogue of audio and visual content, including collaborations with other producers and partners.
Elis said the idea of starting a company together had been a long-standing ambition and described his enthusiasm for creating new projects with people whose work he admires. John added that he was keen to explore digital content further, while also joking about the wider economic impact of their announcement.
Dave said the company reflects a shared vision developed over years of working together. He described the launch as an opportunity to build something new with two broadcasters he has collaborated with closely, and said more plans would be announced in the coming months.
Significant Productions will operate as an independent production business, developing original titles while remaining open to external partnerships across audio and digital media.
