Asian Network Represents initiative announces 12 new presenters

A dozen new voices will present on BBC Asian Network over the next year as part of its Represents initiative.

They have been selected to host Asian Network Represents between April this year and March next year, each taking over the Tuesday 10pm to 11pm slot for a month.

Each presenter will host four shows, with a mix of music and personal storytelling, with several making their first appearance on radio.

The line-up includes Birmingham-based Amkbhamra, who begins the run in April, alongside contributors from London, Cardiff, Salford and Luton across the year.

Among those joining are Bablu, a Cardiff-based content creator focused on music and film, and actor Anoushka Chadha, who has appeared in the film Picture This.

The group also includes individuals working across different fields, including social media, performance and finance.

Ahmed Hussain, Head of BBC Asian Network, said: “Represents is all about giving people their first step into radio and creating a space where new voices can shine. Asian Network has always been proud to champion new talent.”

The initiative returns following a search for emerging presenters from across the UK.
