BBC Radio Stoke lines up celebrities for Comic Relief
Celebrity guest hosts will join Lee Blakeman on BBC Radio Stoke’s Breakfast show for a special week supporting Comic Relief.
The station will feature a different co-presenter each morning from Monday 16 March as part of its programming for the annual fundraising campaign.
Broadcaster Nick Hancock begins the week on Monday. Nick is known for creating and presenting the television programmes They Think It’s All Over and Room 101, and is a Stoke City season ticket holder.
Tuesday’s programme will feature darts player Phil Taylor. Phil is a sixteen time World Darts Champion who grew up in Stoke-on-Trent and still lives locally.
Ashleigh Nelson joins the show on Wednesday. Ashleigh has represented Team GB in athletics and bobsleigh, becoming only the second woman to compete at both the Summer and Winter Olympic Games.
Long jumper Jazmin Sawyers will co-present on Thursday. Jazmin won gold at the 2023 European Indoor Championships and has competed for Team GB at the Rio 2016 and Tokyo 2020 Olympic Games.
Friday’s guest will be Kelvin Fletcher, known for his role as Andy Sugden in Emmerdale and for winning Strictly Come Dancing in 2019.
Lee Blakeman said: “I can’t wait to welcome such a great group of guests on to the show for Comic Relief.”
BBC Radio Stoke says the week will feature fundraising activity and special moments on air, with the team also hoping to attempt a world record with one of the celebrity co-hosts.
