Gaydio Awards take place with multi-platform coverage this year
A live radio show and social content extended the Gaydio Awards beyond its Manchester venue this year.
The fourth annual event took place on Friday 20th March at the Deansgate Hotel, combining a live ceremony with on-air programming and social media coverage to reach audiences across multiple platforms.
Gaydio broadcast a dedicated show during the night, sharing interviews, reactions and key moments with listeners.
Content was also published in real time across Instagram, TikTok and X, with updates from the purple carpet, backstage and winners’ announcements.
There were 16 awards presented, recognising individuals and organisations supporting LGBTQ+ communities across the UK. The ceremony focused on grassroots work and those making a difference at a local level.
DJ Paulette received the Lifetime Achievement Award, while Ella Morgan was named Gaydio Icon. Coronation Street’s LGBTQ+ domestic abuse storyline won Outstanding Entertainment Contribution, and JADE was awarded Music Artist of the Year.
Performances came from Louisa Johnson, XO, MEEK and Bailey J Mills, alongside appearances from figures from TV and entertainment.
Kriss Herbert, Network Content Director at Gaydio, said: “Four years on, the Gaydio Awards continue to shine a light on the incredible work happening in LGBTQ+ communities across the UK.”
He added that the event’s reach across radio and social platforms is helping bring those stories to wider audiences.
