Guestimators co-founder Matt Cutler dies

Matt Cutler, co-founder of Lock It In Studio and creator of the comedy quiz Guestimators, has died following cancer.

His death was confirmed in a statement from Lock It In Studio, shared by Andy Bush and Will Nichols, who said the team is devastated by the loss of a colleague and friend.

Matt was described as the mastermind behind the studio’s flagship format, Guestimators, a show that brought together guests, quizzers and listeners each week.

The programme became central to the company’s output and identity, with Matt shaping its tone and structure from the outset.

In the statement, Andy and Will said: “Over the past few years, Matt became not just a colleague but a dear friend.” They added that he was “brilliantly funny, sharp, unpredictable in the best way”, and that he faced his diagnosis with “extraordinary strength and dignity”.

They also said the show “brought joy and fun to everyone who played along each week, from our guests and quizzers to the listeners and the brilliant team behind the scenes”.

The studio said Matt brought laughter, creativity and energy to every project he worked on and would be deeply missed.

The statement concluded by expressing sympathy for his wife Helena, his family and loved ones.
