Metropolitan Police confirm Scott Mills legacy investigation
Scott Mills was questioned by police under caution in 2018 as part of an investigation into allegations of serious sexual offences involving a teenage boy, the Metropolitan Police has confirmed.
In a statement, the Met said the investigation began in December 2016 following a referral from another police force and related to alleged offences reported to have taken place between 1997 and 2000.
A man in his 40s at the time was interviewed under caution in July 2018.
Police confirmed a full file of evidence was passed to the Crown Prosecution Service, which determined the evidential threshold had not been met to bring charges.
Following that decision, the investigation was closed in May 2019.
The force has also confirmed the complainant was under the age of 16.
The statement has emerged following the BBC’s decision to terminate Scott’s contract with immediate effect, citing issues related to personal conduct.
