Phil Williams launches podcast featuring books to read on the beach

A new podcast hosted by Phil Williams will profile bestselling authors and their books, with episodes released every two weeks from 23rd April.

Books on the Beach will feature one writer per episode, focusing on commercial fiction, non-fiction and children’s titles.

The series is produced in partnership with EY3 Studios in South Manchester, with each episode available on major audio platforms and as a filmed version on YouTube in 4K UHD.

Confirmed guests include Lynda La Plante, Dorothy Koomson and Anthony Horowitz, with further authors due to be announced.

Phil said: “I never read fiction until the age of 34. I was completely put off by English A Level texts. I don’t want other adults and especially men to make the same mistake. Reading provides a brilliant way to switch off from your problems, enter other worlds and expand your intellect.”

He added: “A recent YouGov poll suggested 40% of Britons hadn’t read or listened to a book in the last year. I’d love to put that right through this podcast and recommend some incredible stories to people who don’t ever pick up a book.”

Phil has worked across BBC Radio 1, BBC Radio 5 Live, Times Radio and is currently heard on BBC Radio 2.
