Wynne Evans to host weekly show on Dragon Radio

Welsh broadcaster Wynne Evans is joining Dragon Radio to host a weekly show starting on Easter Sunday.

Wynne was most recently at BBC Radio Wales but left in May 2025 after his contract was not renewed following a controversy over Strictly Come Dancing. He then launched an online radio show via his website, which continues today.

The first show will air from 10am to 1pm on Easter Sunday, 5 April and will feature a mix of all time favourite songs, listener requests and conversation.

Wynne Evans is a classically trained tenor who studied at the Guildhall School of Music and has performed widely, including more than 200 performances at the Royal Albert Hall.

He later became widely recognised for fronting the GoCompare advertising campaign and has appeared on television programmes including Wynne’s Welsh, Wynne’s All at Sea and Wynne at the Deep End. Wynne also won Celebrity MasterChef.

Away from broadcasting, Wynne owns The Welsh House restaurant in Carmarthen and was awarded a British Empire Medal by Queen Elizabeth II for his work in broadcasting, community and charity activities.

Nation Broadcasting Group Programme Director Neil Greenslade said: “Wynne is a brilliant addition to our team at Dragon Radio. He will fit right in, playing listeners’ All Time Favourites and with his chat and stories, he will provide great company for listeners across Wales.”

Wynne Evans said: “I’m absolutely thrilled to be joining Dragon Radio. Wales has always been my home and my audience, and I cannot wait to spend my weekends with them again.”
