AIR Radio opens new Weymouth studios in town centre
AIR Radio has opened its new studios in Weymouth during celebrations marking the station’s fifteenth birthday.
The community radio station officially launched its new base at Jeffery House in Maiden Street during a special event attended by civic guests, advertisers and local representatives.
The service was previously based at a local school but all that changed last year and was in danger of closing until local businessman Jamie Lyones joined and spearheaded a new studio build.
The new AIR Studios were formally opened by the Lord-Lieutenant of Dorset, Professor Michael Dooley.
Guests at the launch included South Dorset MP Lloyd Hatton, alongside the Mayor and invited supporters connected to the station and wider community.
AIR says it will now return to broadcasting live throughout the day, from the newly opened studios in Weymouth town centre.
Jamie Lyones told RadioToday it’s been a lot of hard work but the town deserves it.
