Sandie Shaw gets presenter slot on Boom Radio

Sandie Shaw will present a two hour Boom Radio programme on Bank Holiday Monday.

The singer has been given the freedom to choose songs which are personal to her, with the programme airing on May 25th at 8pm.

Sandie will talk about her early days “dancing her legs off” at Ilford Palais, as well as bluffing her way to see John Lennon.

The programme will also cover later moments in her life, including learning how to be chic and cool from Francoise Hardy and appearing on the Frankie Howerd TV show with Scott Walker from the Walker Brothers.

Sandie also speaks about women she admires, including Aretha Franklin, saying: “I just so respect that woman.”

She credits Patti Smith with helping her embrace a natural look, and Chrissie Hynde from the Pretenders with helping her come to terms with her musical past.

Music chosen by Sandie will include tracks from ABBA, Bryan Ferry, Bowie and John Lennon.
