Absolute Radio has signed 80s singer-songwriter Howard Jones to present a second series of a specialist show on its digital station dedicated to the decade.
He’ll host ‘Electronic 80s’ on Sunday evenings from next month.
The programme sees Howard picking his favourite electronic tracks and sharing his stories of working and performing with artists from the period. Groups such as New Order, Kraftwerk, Human League, Heaven 17 and Tears for Fears are likely to feature.
Howard said: “I am very excited to be hosting my own radio series on Absolute 80s. The series dovetails my nationwide UK tour in April, so there will be lots of great electronic 80s music to play, and lots to talk about.”
Absolute Radio’s Content Director, Tony Moorey told RadioToday.co.uk: “When you think of the 80s, Howard Jones is one of the Great British icons. He’s already proven himself to be an amazing singer, songwriter and musician, and we believe he can add radio presenter to that list. Absolute Radio has previously established music talent and worked with them to produce first-rate radio. We know that Howard will do a fantastic job.”
Electronic 80s goes out on Sunday nights at 8pm on Absolute 80s. Previous hosts have included Martyn Ware and Glenn Gregory from Heaven 17.
