Radio Today to host live Sonys webcast – RadioToday

Radio Today to host live Sonys webcast

We’re teaming up with The Radio Academy and Broadcast Bionics to bring you exclusive live coverage of this year’s Sony Radio Academy Awards later this month.

For the first time, Radio Today will stream a live radio show on this website so that people from the industry not attending the awards can follow proceedings from home.

This year there won’t be an official webcast from the awards, so Radio Today has stepped in and will stream live audio from the stage as awards are handed out, along with interviews, comment and analysis.

The show will be presented live from the Grosvenor House Hotel on Monday 14th May by our editor Stuart Clarkson and former Heart and Capital FM DJ Pat Sharp, who now does weekend breakfast for Smooth Radio.

As usual we’ll also be running our interactive live blog and providing updates via our RadioTodayLive twitter feed.

Radio Today founder Roy Martin said: “For the last five years we’ve been at the Sonys to keep those in the industry who aren’t lucky enough to be there up to date with who’s won what, and to provide some behind the scenes gossip. This year some changes to how the event is being managed means we were able to get the opportunity to run the only live webcast from the awards on the night. We’re very excited about it and hope people can join us via radiotoday.co.uk/live to follow all the action from the biggest evening in our industry’s calendar.”

Radio Today Live with Broadcast Bionics from the Sony Radio Academy Awards 2012 starts with a countdown to the awards from 5pm and there’ll be interviews with the celebrities and radio folk arriving on the red carpet, followed by a feed of the Sony Radio Academy Awards show from the Grosvenor House Hotel hosted by Chris Evans. Stuart and Pat will be on hand to give you the backstage gossip and chat to some of the winners, as well as reading out your tweets and messages.

We’re also encouraging people and stations across the industry to record good luck messages on Audioboo and tag them with #radiotodaylive. We’ll then play out your messages as part of the build-up to the awards.

Full details and access to the Radio Today Live with Broadcast Bionics show will be available at radiotoday.co.uk/live

Record a good luck message for the Sonys…

During the opening part of the show, we’d love to play out some of your good luck messages for friends and colleagues who are shortlisted. To get your good luck message on the air, post an Audioboo using the hashtag #radiotodaylive. Your audio can be anything from a quick voice message recorded on your smartphone to a piece of produced ‘good luck’ audio on behalf of your station or group. Post your Audioboo messages and we’ll play them out on the Radio Today Live show from the Sony Radio Academy Awards on 14th May.
