Speculation begins on Moyles’ new show

Reports are appearing speculating Chris Moyles could take over the late show on BBC Radio 1.

They started after the Independent newspaper suggested he’s taking over John Peel’s old slot – currently presented by breakfast replacement Nick Grimshaw.

But Radio Today has been in touch with BBC Radio 1 who say discussions are still on going and no decision has been made on which programme Chris will return to after his theatre tour. It is thought he will end up with at least a weekly show as he’s contracted to the station till 2014 – on a £600,000 salary.

“We are still in discussions with Chris about his future at Radio 1 and no decisions have been taken,” a spokesperson told us.

If the initial reports are true, it would see Chris effectively swap with Nick, and host the 10pm till midnight slot four nights a week.

Chris is leaving the breakfast show on September 14th, with Nick starting on September 24th, after it was announced in July that he would be stepping down from the high-profile show after 9 years.
