BBC invites stations to make short films

The BBC has invited community and university radio stations in the north east and Cumbria to join them for a film-making course.

Initially, two people from each of four stations will learn how to operate a camera, film and edit to make a short promo film about their station. The films will be shown at the end of their course before an invited group of opinion formers.

The stations are Spice FM and NE1 FM in Tyneside, Koast FM in Northumberland and CVFM in Middlesbrough

While at the BBC, the station reps will get a tour of the BBC’s radio and TV studios. They’ll then use their films to promote their stations.

The course takes place this week and is paid for by BBC North East and Cumbria and is run by Darren Taylor from BBC Newcastle.

Phil Roberts, Head of Local and Regional programmes for the North East and Cumbria told us: “The idea behind the course was for us to form closer links with our community radio stations and if the first course next week is well received we plan to run more in the future. The station gets to keep the promotional film they make on the course which should be of real benefit to them too.”
