New daytime schedule for BBC Radio Wales

BBC Radio Wales launches a fresh new line-up of weekday programmes next week, featuring some of the station’s regular presenters.

From Monday, September 24, Good Morning Wales will be followed at 9am by Oliver Hides who presents his own new show, Morning Call, giving people the opportunity to discuss the news headlines, by phone, text and social media.

“It’s a really exciting new programme,” says Oliver, who retains close ties with his home town of Aberystwyth. “It’s a chance for the listeners to tell us their opinions and what’s got them talking across Wales.”

At 10am Jason Mohammad’s new programme offers great music and interviews as well as debate on the big topics of the day. “The programme will have all the ingredients that people love,” says Cardiff-born Jason, who studied at Swansea University, “the interaction with the audience, talking about the big stories of the day and also the big hard-hitting interviews… If it happening in Wales, you’ll hear it first on my show.”

Louise Elliott takes over at 1pm for her new afternoon show, with live music from Wales as well as celebrity interviews. It will also be breaking and reporting the latest in news and sport. “I really enjoy how close we at Radio Wales are to our audience, and it’s wonderful that we are so interested in each other’s lives,” she says. “We have a great rapport – we have fun together, but there’s also a great warmth and intelligence about the topics we discuss and the experiences we share.”

The station has also increased its production base across Wales.

“I hope the listeners will love the new line-up,” says Steve Austins, Editor BBC Radio Wales. “The new shows, along with our new team across the country, will allow us to tell the stories that matter to the people of Wales every day.”
