BBC Radio 4 is turning its attention to the sex lives of people living in Britain. The Sex Lives Of Us will provide a snapshot of attitudes towards sex and sexuality in the year which marks the anniversaries of two landmark developments — the 50th anniversary of the Wolfenden report and the 40th anniversary of the Sexual Offences Act.
Programmes will include readings, contemporary history, documentaries and debate.
Controller of Radio 4, Mark Damazer, said: "The publication of the Wolfenden Report 50 years ago and the change in the law decriminalising homosexuality 10 years later paved the way for a radical change in society's attitudes to sex and sexuality.
"Over two weeks, Radio 4 will explore the way in which that revolution has (or has not) changed our thinking about sex. The programmes will contain a wide range of views, from those advocating celibacy to those who are avowedly hedonistic. The season will examine notions of 'normality' in sexual behaviour and sexual attitudes."
Programmes will include readings, contemporary history, documentaries and debate.
