New job for ex-BBC producer in Australia

Former BBC Radio 1 senior producer Chris Johnson is joining Southern Cross Austereo as Digital Content and Product Director.

The Melbourne-based role will see him reporting to former Absolute Radio boss Clive Dickens, who is now Director of Digital and Innovation at the broadcaster.

He has most recently been working at kidspot.com.au as Head of Product & Operations.

The company says Chris will focus on propelling SCA forward in the quickly evolving digital space, and ingrain the company’s digital content and product strategy across all elements of the multi-platform business.

Clive Dickens told RadioToday: “I am thrilled that Chris Johnson has agreed to lead our Digital Content Team. His unique experience of Broadcast Radio within the Digital Team at the BBC and targeted consumer media at Kidspot as part News Corp Australia will be a great asset to SCA.”

Chris said: “I’m really excited to be joining the digital team at SCA. This place has phenomenal brands, talent and ambition and I’m looking forward to helping continue the tradition of creating world-leading digital content and developing services that audiences love.”

Whilst at BBC Radio 1, Chris created digital products and content across desktop and mobile platforms, having started at the corporation as a web developer in 2006 after completing Masters Degree in Computer Science.
