Speculation is continuing about who will buy Emap – if anyone. A report in The Times suggets Global Radio are cash rich enough to buy the entire division, which would result in room for only one youth brand. But would it be Kiss or Galaxy which survives.
The report gives Global Radio more buying power than other bidders for the radio division — including GCap Media, Vitruvian Partners and Veronis Suhler Stevenson. The new-comers has been earmarked as the favourite among the bidders for Emap's radio division, valued at £400 million.
Other possible bidders including GCap Media, Vitruvian Partners and Veronis Suhler Stevenson don't have the same resources, whilst UTV have bowed out of the auction, the report says.
The newspaper report also suggets GMG Radio wants to purchase Magic 105.4 if Global get hold of the company. Maybe that and regional station Wave 105 would fit nicely with the group's regional brands.
