Kev Johns off air in Swansea due to police investigation

Swansea Sound Full Welsh Breakfast presenter Kev Johns is off-air this week after police charges were brought against him.

Kev was due to be part of the relaunch of the station as Greatest Hits Radio next month.

He is alleged to have indecently assaulted a boy in Swansea in the early 1980s, and appeared at Swansea Magistrates Court today facing two charges relating to a child under 16.

The 59 year old presenter was bailed to appear at Swansea Crown Court on September 4th.

A Bauer spokesperson told RadioToday: “We have agreed with Kevin Johns that he will take a leave of absence from his presenting duties to allow him time to fully focus on the police investigation.”

Swansea Sound mid-morning presenter Phil Hoyles will cover breakfast whilst Steve Dewitt will cover mid-mornings.
