BBC Radio 1 presenter Dev Griffin has announced he’s leaving the corporation after 11 years on-air.
He tweeted to say he’s ready for some new challenges and his last day will be December 20th 2020.
The post said: “Being a DJ on Radio 1 for the past 11 years and 1Xtra for 7 years has been a childhood dream come true and it’s been a huge part of my life.
“I have made some amazing memories and even better friends. It’s been an absolute privilege and a pleasure to waffle and entertain so many listeners but I’m ready for some new challenges.
“My last show on Radio 1 will be on the 20th of December! Thank you for listening x.”
Dev joined 1Xtra when it launched in 2002 where he and Reg Yates hosted The Lowdown on Saturday afternoons. He went on to host early breakfast in 2007 then moved to Radio 1 in 2009 to takeover weekend breakfast.
He returned to weekends in 2014 to host weekend breakfast on Radio 1, then started co-hosting with Alice Levine in 2018 before moving to weekend afternoons as the Dev & Alice show.
We’ve contacted Radio 1 for comment and more details, and will update this story in due course.
