The Radio Academy is looking for new Trustees to join its board from February 2023.
Expressions of interest are now being invited for candidates to be elected by the membership in January 2023.
The Trustees oversee the strategy and direction of its activity for a three-year term and are expected to play an active role and attend a minimum of six board meetings per year, by video conference or in-person in London.
The election comes as three elected Trustees stand down from the board having served three years.
Stephanie Hirst (Hits Radio), Anthony Gay (ReelWorld) and Harriet Scott (Magic Radio) were elected in 2020, and leave with the thanks of the board and the Chair.
Two co-opted Trustees are also standing down this year. Dom Chambers (Community Radio Association) and Naomi Oiku (representing the Student Radio Association) have served four years on the board, and will now be part of a new Grassroots Audio Advisory Group, starting in 2023.
The board of Trustees last year committed to gradually reduce its overall size from 14 people to ten. It has made this decision in-line with common practice to make boards more efficient, more accountable, and more manageable.
To achieve this, over the period 2022-2024, as three elected trustees stand down, two will be elected in their place, with additional expertise co-opted to the board as required.
Chair of The Radio Academy Helen Thomas said: “The Trustees election process is a chance for passionate, experienced professionals to put themselves forward to serve the industry, and to represent their colleagues on the Radio Academy board. I want to thank Steph, Ant, Harriet, Dom and Naomi for doing exactly that over the last few years, and I really looking forward to welcoming two new Trustees next year.”
