Tim Lihoreau to host Classic FM weekend Breakfast in schedule changes

Classic FM’s new schedule for 2024 will see Tim Lihoreau hosting the weekend Breakfast Show and Stephen Mangan joining the station.

This follows yesterday’s announcement that Dan Walker is the new host of the weekday Breakfast Show.

Tim moves to weekends after presenting weekday Breakfast for nearly 12 years. Comedian, author, actor and presenter Stephen Mangan joins to host a new Sunday afternoon programme, from 4pm to 7pm launching this Sunday, 7 January.

Stephen Mangan said: “I am honoured and excited to join the nation’s number one classical music station with my very own show, at one of my favourite times of the week – Sunday afternoon. As an avid listener and a big fan of classical music, it’s been an ambition to present on Classic FM.

“I can’t wait to get to know the listeners and to share my love of classical music, and I look forward to their company every Sunday.”

In other changes to the schedule, Jonathan Ross will present a second weekend show dedicated to film scores. Starting tomorrow, Classic FM at the Movies will be broadcast every Friday and Saturday from 7pm to 9pm.

Charlotte Hawkins will host Young Classical Stars, a new series of programmes celebrating up-and-coming classical musicians, on Fridays from 9pm, while on Saturdays from 9pm, John Humphrys will launch a new series – Connecting Notes – exploring some of classical music’s most fascinating stories and the common ground between them.

David Mellor will return this Easter with a new series featuring live recordings, alongside a new classical music playlist on Global Player.

Philip Noyce, Classic FM’s Managing Editor, said: “It’s fantastic to welcome Dan Walker as the new host of Classic FM Breakfast, weekdays from 6.30am – and, at the weekend, Stephen Mangan, Sundays from 4pm.

“They’re both terrifically talented presenters and I know they’ll become firm favourites with our audience, as they share their passion for classical music. This exciting evolution of our schedule offers something for every listener – whether new to classical music or already part of our loyal audience.”
