
Careless Whisper by George Michael and Andrew Ridgeley has once again been voted the UK’s favourite song in Smooth Radio’s All Time Top 500.
The song took the number one spot for the seventh year running, following more than 42,000 votes cast by listeners.
The full countdown aired across the May bank holiday weekend, with Careless Whisper confirmed as number one shortly before 7pm on Monday 6 May.
Robbie Williams, Ed Sheeran and Kylie Minogue also feature in this year’s top 500, with Kylie making her first appearance at number 362.
George Michael is the most featured artist in this year’s countdown with 19 songs, including 13 solo tracks.
A Different Corner reached number three, and his duet with Elton John, Don’t Let the Sun Go Down on Me, came in at number nine.
Elton John returned to the top 10 for the first time since 2017 and is the most featured living artist this year with 13 entries.
ABBA achieved a record 16 entries in the chart, with Dancing Queen at number 10 and The Winner Takes It All at number 25.
Whitney Houston is the highest-placed female artist with 13 songs, led by I Will Always Love You at number 14.
