Bauer and RCUK partner to boost CPR awareness
Bauer Media Group has formed a partnership with Resuscitation Council UK to help increase CPR confidence and expand access to defibrillators across the country.
The collaboration brings together Bauer’s outdoor, publishing and audio operations to support a coordinated national effort. Defibrillators are being added to selected communication kiosks around the UK and to bus shelters in Portsmouth, all registered on The Circuit so emergency services can direct people to the closest unit. Guidance from Resuscitation Council UK will be available through QR codes placed on these sites, with a wider national campaign on outdoor screens planned later this year.
Bauer’s magazine and digital brands have already begun carrying Resuscitation Council UK advertising, with activity running across titles including TV Choice, Take a Break, CAR and Today’s Golfer, as well as digital placements on Grazia, Closer, Mojo and Empire. Later this year, Bauer’s audio division will amplify the message across stations such as Greatest Hits Radio, Magic and Jazz FM.
Both organisations say the partnership aims to reduce survival inequalities. More than forty thousand people experience an out-of-hospital cardiac arrest each year in the UK, and survival rates are significantly lower in deprived areas. Bauer Media Outdoor intends to prioritise underserved communities when installing new units.
James Cant, CEO of Resuscitation Council UK, said the partnership is about “putting defibrillators where they’re needed most and empowering more people with the knowledge and confidence to save a life.” Simon Kilby from Bauer said the group’s scale allows it to embed life-saving tools “into the heart of our infrastructure and communities.”
The agreement also includes a CPR awareness programme for Bauer employees.
