Bauer unites Europe for in-car radio push
A coordinated on-air message aiming to reach 180 million weekly listeners is getting underway as broadcasters unite to promote radio’s place in the connected car.
To mark World Radio Day, Bauer Media Audio has joined 23 other broadcasters across 15 countries to launch Connected Journeys, a Europe-wide campaign celebrating listening to radio in the car.
The message is being broadcast in unison on all 104 Bauer Media stations across nine countries, alongside the entire NRJ network and other operators including RTL and REGIOCAST. In Poland, the campaign is running across every major station, reaching 78% of the population.
The initiative highlights radio’s role for drivers as vehicles become more connected and in-car entertainment systems more complex. It calls on listeners to prioritise straightforward access to radio when choosing their next vehicle.
Tobias Nielsen, Senior Vice President Digital at Bauer Media Audio, said: “We’re incredibly proud to spearhead Connected Journeys and its demonstration of industry unity. Leading radio stations right across Europe are acting together to champion listeners’ experience and expectations in the connected car and ensure that radio remains at the heart of the journey.”
He added: “As in-car entertainment technology offers more choice, but with increasing complexity, we’re reminding listeners that their in-car radio should remain just a simple click away.”
Many participating broadcasters are also part of the Radio Ready for Connected Cars initiative.
