BBC Radio 1Xtra launches first club night event
BBC Radio 1Xtra is taking its DJs into a live club setting for the first time with a new London event in April.
The station will stage its first 1Xtra Takeover at EartH Hall in Hackney on Saturday 25 April from 7pm until 1am, bringing together its own presenters for a night of live DJ sets and guest appearances.
The line-up features DJ Target, Kash and Pharxoh, Kenny Allstar, Rampage and Sian Anderson. Music on the night will span RnB, Hip Hop, Grime, UK Garage, Dancehall and Afrobeats, reflecting the genres regularly heard on the station.
DJ Target said: “I’m so excited to be back in a club setting with the rest of the 1Xtra family. We’ve really got some of the best DJs in the world, and an amazing audience who know how to party so it’s due to be a great night.”
Rampage said: “Every weekend we go up and down the country and bump into our lovely listeners, we can’t wait to shell down EartH Hall in April alongside some of our 1Xtra family and meet the listeners again.”
Dari Samuels, Head of Radio 1Xtra, said the event would bring audiences together in person to celebrate Black music, culture and identity.
Tickets go on sale at 10am on Tuesday 3 March for those aged 18 and over. Highlights will air on BBC Radio 1Xtra and BBC Sounds on Monday 4 May.
