Radio 1 confirms spring Friday early breakfast duo
BBC Radio 1 is giving two more emerging presenters a monthly shot at its Friday Early Breakfast show this spring.
Cai Sherlock will take over the 5am to 7am slot in April, with Emma Millen following in May, as the station continues its rotating showcase for new broadcasting talent.
The Friday show has become a regular route on to the network for newer voices, with Chelsea Little hosting through February and Daryl Jenkins covering March. Both Cai and Emma previously appeared on Radio 1 through the station’s Christmas Presenter Takeover, which was set up to give fresh talent an opportunity on air.
Cai Sherlock, from York, previously hosted Radio 1 Anthems during the 2025 festive period. He also presents an evening programme on YO1 and has worked at major sporting events across the UK, including interviewing Lando Norris at last year’s British Grand Prix.
Emma Millen, from Newcastle, first appeared on Radio 1 during the 2021 festive period on Radio 1 Anthems. She went on to work at Spark Sunderland, won Gold for Best Music Show or Presenter at the 2020 Student Radio Awards, and now presents an evening show on BBC Radio Newcastle.
Head of Radio 1 Aled Haydn Jones said it was “great to see” Chelsea, Daryl, Cai and Emma “taking the next step” by hosting the programme.
