
BBC Scotland reveals radio plan for World Cup fans
BBC Radio Scotland will carry live commentary on every Scotland group match at the FIFA World Cup Finals.
The BBC Scotland plan covers radio, television, BBC Sounds, iPlayer, Gaelic output, podcasts, news and social media as Scotland return to the tournament after 28 years.
Alasdair Lamont will commentate on the three group games against Haiti, Morocco and Brazil for BBC Radio Scotland and Radio 5 Live, with Pat Nevin alongside him in the commentary box.
Kenny Macintyre will present Sportsound coverage from Pacific Quay in Glasgow, joined by guests during the campaign.
Louise Thornton, Head of Commissioning at BBC Scotland, said sport teams would have “every kick and talking point” covered across television, radio and online.
Amy Irons and Steven Mill will follow the campaign with special editions of The Saturday Show at the World Cup, starting on 13 June from Boston.
Grant Stott and Arlene Stuart will host Yes Sir, We Can Boogie with Grant and Arlene on match evenings, while Tam Cowan and Stuart Cosgrove will present World Cup editions of Off the Ball.
BBC Radio nan Gàidheal and BBC Sounds will also carry live Scottish Gaelic commentaries of the group matches, with Alasdair MacLennan commentating.
Only An Excuse? returns on 6 June for a 40th anniversary radio episode with Phil Differ and Jonathan Watson, while Jonathan Sutherland will host a daily Scotland World Cup podcast on BBC Sounds and iPlayer.
