Aled Jones to host Classic FM weekday mornings

Classic FM is introducing a refreshed schedule from 1st June, with Aled Jones taking over the station’s weekday morning programme from 10am to 1pm.

Aled moves into the slot after presenting weekend mornings on the station since 2013. He replaces Alexander Armstrong, who is launching a new Friday evening programme called Classical Spotlight with Alexander Armstrong from 8pm to 10pm.

Aled said: “I am excited to be moving into weekday mornings on Classic FM and to take over the reins from my friend Alexander Armstrong, on the biggest programme on the station. It’s such a special opportunity and I can’t wait to spend even more time with our listeners.”

Alexander’s new programme will feature well known classical musicians, new recordings and one of Classic FM’s Rising Stars each week. The show will also include concert recommendations, a Choral Classic and a complete Full Work.

Dawn O’Porter is also joining the station with a new Saturday programme from 12pm to 3pm following her recent guest series earlier this year. Jonathan Ross’s Classic FM at the Movies moves to Fridays and Saturdays from 6pm to 8pm.

Classic FM’s video game music programme Next Level with DanTDM is increasing to two hours on Saturdays from 8pm to 10pm. Calm Classics with Myleene Klass will also extend to four hours on Friday and Saturday nights.

Joseph Zubier, Managing Editor of Classic FM, said the changes reflect the station’s ambition to introduce new audiences to classical music through “world class programming”.
