A new local digital radio station will launch in Huddersfield on 1st September.
Huddle Radio will broadcast on DAB with a focus on life across the town.
The station has been created by Sarah Hancock, who said she wanted to make “something positive and community-driven” for Huddersfield.
Huddle Radio says it will work with community partners including Huddersfield Town AFC, Huddersfield BID, Lawrence Batley Theatre, the University of Huddersfield, Kirkwood Hospice, Forget Me Not Children’s Hospice, Radio Sangam and Emley AFC.
Huddersfield Hub will act as the station’s official local news partner.
The presenter line up includes several familiar West Yorkshire names. Danny Mylo, formerly of Pulse 1 Breakfast, will be the station voice, while former Pulse 2 Breakfast host Chris Johnson will present Drive.
Caroline Verdon, formerly of Radio Aire Breakfast and now based in Huddersfield, will host the Huddle Workday.
Nick Hancock will present The Morning Huddle on weekdays from 7am to 10am. He said: “We’ve been planning this for a long time. We want to create a station that is loads of fun for people in Huddersfield.”
Colne Valley MP Paul Davies has also welcomed the launch, saying he looks forward to hearing local news, business updates and stories from across Huddersfield.
