Ofcom has opened an application window for restricted service licences covering 4th February to 16th March 2027.
The regulator expects increased interest as Ramadan falls within these dates. Applicants have until 5pm on Friday 7th August 2026 to submit their forms.
Ofcom has reminded applicants to review the latest RSL notes of guidance and to use the current application form.
Both documents are available on the RSL page of Ofcom’s website. Applications must be complete and the application fee should only be paid at the time of submission.
Ofcom says this process is designed to ensure all applicants have access to the latest information and requirements.
The window is open to any group wishing to broadcast during the specified period, but the timing is expected to be particularly relevant for those planning Ramadan radio services.
Ofcom encourages all interested parties to check the guidance before applying. Further details and forms can be found on the Ofcom website.
