Clyde 1 has broadcast live for the first time from its new studios at 100 Queen Street in Glasgow, leaving its Clydebank base after 43 years.
The special broadcast, called ‘Clyde 1’s BIG MOVE’, began at 7am with George Bowie and Cassi from Bowie@Breakfast setting off from Clydebank on an open-top bus.
They were joined by presenters Grant Thomson, Garry Spence, Steven Mill, Gordon Duncan, Callum Gallacher and Amber, as well as guests Nathan Evans and the Saint PHNX Band.
Listeners heard regular features such as The £5k Minute and Kool Ride to School during the journey. On arrival at the new studios, the team was welcomed by the Lord Provost of Glasgow, Jacqueline McLaren, who said the station has supported good causes and helped tell the story of the city for decades.
A Clyde 1 branded traffic cone was placed on the Duke of Wellington statue by George, marking the station’s arrival in the city centre.
At 9am, Bowie@Breakfast broadcast live from the new studios for the first time, with the first song played being Bits ’n Pieces.
George said returning to the city centre in new studios is an exciting step, while Cassi reflected on memorable moments from Clydebank and looked forward to creating new memories in Glasgow.
