BBC Radio 4 is bringing back Life Without with Alan Davies for ten new episodes from 16 October.
Produced by ITN Productions, each 15 minute programme will consider what might happen if one element of the world suddenly disappeared.
Alan Davies will host discussions with two guests from fields including science, psychology, economics, sociology and journalism. Subjects covered during the new run will include bats, memory, the Gulf Stream and tears.
The programme uses evidence and different expert perspectives to examine the immediate consequences of each imagined disappearance and how society might respond.
Guests will include Professor Kate Jones and Dr Christina Stanley for the episode about bats. Dr Rachel Elward and Keith Oliver will discuss memory, while Professor David Thornalley and Professor Tahseen Jafry will consider a world without the Gulf Stream.
Rubina Pabani, Executive Producer and Head of Digital Content at ITN Productions, said: “Alan brings the perfect mix of humour and rigour to the series.”
Life Without with Alan Davies is produced by Riham Moussa, with Emily Jarvis as line producer. Sound design is by Marton Bajczi, Nick Handley and Tom Butler.
The series was commissioned for BBC Radio 4 by Rhian Roberts and produced by ITN Productions.
