Steffan Powell will present BBC Radio 5 Live Breakfast alongside Naga Munchetty from the middle of January 2027.
The appointment completes the new presenting line-up for the programme, which is produced in Salford, with Steffan moving from his current Friday and Sunday Breakfast duties to become a full-time co-host.
Steffan is already heard regularly presenting programmes across 5 Live and previously spent eight years at BBC Radio 1’s Newsbeat, working as a presenter and senior reporter.
His broadcasting career has included news, current affairs, politics, sport and factual programming across radio and television, and he will now join Naga each weekday morning to cover the day’s news and sport.
Speaking about his appointment, Steffan said: “BBC Radio 5 Live holds a special place in my heart. It’s one of the reasons I trained to be a journalist, and to be trusted, all these years later, to look after its Breakfast show full-time is a privilege.”
He added: “Together, Naga and I will put listeners first, cut through the noise and try to make sense of what’s going on in the world.”
Richard Maddock, Head of BBC Radio 5 Live, said: “Steffan has been a hugely valued part of the 5 Live team for many years now and has a fantastic relationship with our listeners.”
Richard also highlighted Steffan’s experience covering major news stories and sporting events, alongside his ability to connect with people across the UK.
