UPDATE: Radio Ceredigion has been sold to Town and Country Broadcasting, and the station is to to co-locate with Radio Pembrokeshire.
Ceredigion, currently based in Aberystwyth – almost two hours drive away from Pembrokeshire – has reportedly been struggling financially.
The news, first [link=http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/wales/mid/8556343.stm]published[/link] on the BBC Wales website yesterday, raised concerns that local broadcasting will disappear, jobs will be lost and Welsh language content at the station cut back.
It has since been confirmed that the station has been bought, and locals are worried the Welsh language programmes will dissappear.
Earlier, Tindle Newspapers Limited said in a statement: "I can confirm that Tindle Newspapers, the owners of Radio Ceredigion, are in discussion with Town and Country about a possible joint venture to ensure the future of the radio station.
"The priorities are to ensure the survival of Radio Ceredigion, which has been struggling financially, and to ensure that Welsh language output is maintained."
Radio Ceredigion launched in the Cardigan Bay area in December 1992.
