In similar on-air competitions, two Bauer stations have found support bands to play in concert with Bon Jovi.
Kerrang! Radio, which received almost 1000 CDs from unsigned artists, and Wave 105 have now each found an upcoming act.
Kerrang! chose Welsh band The Last Republic, whilst Wave 105 whittled the entries down to chose a band called The Velvet Hearts.
Velvet Hearts drummer, Oliver Richmond-Jones, said: “I heard about this competition through a friend who thought we should enter. We didn’t think for one minute we would win, but thought it was worth a shot! When we found out the news we couldn’t believe it – it still hasn’t sunk in now."
The prize for the bands includes playing a 30 minute set, use of a tour manager and a loan vehicle and tickets for friends and family so they can watch the gig.
