Moyles and Dave break record

Chris Moyles and 'Comedy' Dave Vitty have broken the world record for the Longest Radio Marathon by a DJ Team, and crashed the station website in the final 20 minutes.

The pair passed 50 hours of continuous broadcasting on BBC Radio 1 at 8:30 this morning in aid of Comic Relief and were presented with their certificate from Guinness by Gary Barlow.

The team are now off air having raised almost £2.5m for Comic Relief. The final 20 minutes of the show in-vision crashed the Radio 1 website when fellow presenter Fearne Cotton stripped down to her swimsuit, meaning millions of fans missed the final stages of the programme.

Radio 1 tweeted: "Due to high volumes of traffic (we wonder why), the website has crashed. Red Button still running!"

The hash tag #R1MoreMoyles has been trending in the UK for the last three days as listeners and the industry get behind the presenters.
