Starbucks deal for Capital ball

Coffee shop chain Starbucks has been announced as the new sponsor for the Capital FM Summertime Ball which returns later this year.

As part of the deal to promote their Frappuccino range, they'll offer customers the chance to win a competition with a prize of performing live on stage at the event with a mystery celebrity act.

Listeners will be invited to express themselves through dance and send in a video audition. The winner, selected by an expert panel, will receive a money can’t buy prize – including a behind the scenes insight to the event, with their own dressing room, hair and make-up, rehearsals and performing live on stage.

It'll be the third Summertime Ball for Capital, but the first since the brand was rolled out across the former Galaxy and 'Hit Music' stations in January. The first event was at Arsenal's Emirates Stadium in 2009, while last year's took place at Wembley Stadium and featured Rihanna, Usher and Cheryl Cole. Last year's event was sponsored by Windows 7.

The date and venue for this year's event haven't yet been announced.

Mike Gordon, Global Radio’s Managing Director – Commercial said: "The Summertime Ball has become an extremely popular event and has great value for sponsors. We’re excited to be working with Starbucks to help launch their Frappuccino range. This is a great platform for people to reach all those attending the Summertime Ball, but also to target Capital’s listeners."
