More Moyles – Chris re-signs for Radio 1

Chris Moyles has signed another two and a half years contract to stay at the BBC Radio 1 breakfast show till 2014.

The Sun newspaper reports the deal, worth £1.25m, was signed last night and will start next month.

Speculation over who will take over the show has been mounting, with Scott Mills and Greg James being rumoured to take over the show. But after his recent Guinness World Record broadcast, his popularity has increased, no doubt helping station bosses in their decision to offer Moyles another deal.

An Radio 1 spokesman told the newspaper: “We’re pleased to confirm that we’ve signed a new contract with Chris.”

Andy Parfitt said: “Chris is a real talent and I believe he has a long future ahead of him here at the BBC.”
