Several London radio stations are airing free adverts for a Croydon furniture shop which was burnt to the ground in the recent riots.
Global Radio’s LBC 97.3, GMG’s Smooth Radio and Radio Jackie have given House of Reeves a free two week campaign to help the business get back on its feet.
The shop – a family business for more than 140 – was the focus of much media coverage following the the first that devastated the building and stock earlier this month.
Radio Works has produced a selection of adverts for the business with no charge and say other stations including Absolute, talkSPORT and Premier Christian Radio are willing to help out and fit in the adverts to their available airtime spaces.
Mike Gordon, Managing Director – Commercial at Global Radio, said: “We were shocked to hear the sad story of the Reeves furniture shop being burnt down during the London riots, and wanted to do our bit to help. We’re sure that reaching out to LBC 97.3’s 1.15 million weekly listeners will have a positive impact on the business.”
The ads are voiced by Trevor Reeves, the owner of the House of Reeves store and say thank you for all the support they have received and making everyone aware that they are still in business.
RadioWorks CEO, Michael Charnley-Heaton commented: “I initially called the House of Reeves to see if they were still trading and to offer any help we could. I then invited the owner, Trevor Reeves to come in to Maple Street Studios to make some commercials and it all flowed from there…I even bought a sofa-bed from him!”
