Cumbria and Wales switched on

Digital One, the national commercial digital radio multiplex operator, has switched on two new transmitters, in Kendal and Blaenplwyf.

The Kendal transmitter brings national commercial DAB digital radio coverage to more than 142,944 people in Kendal and the southern Lake District. The Blaenplwyf transmitter reaches 46,132 people around the Aberystwyth area of Wales.

Digital One’s network, which is the world’s largest DAB digital radio network, now has 88 transmitters on air.

These two transmitters are part of a phase of sites being turned on by Digital One over the next 18 months. Further new transmitters will continue to extend coverage in Wales and Cumbria as well as in East Anglia.
