Xfm arrives in Manchester

Paul Tonkinson has kicked off his first breakfast show on Manchester’s newest radio station, 97.7 Xfm. The first song played was Stone Roses, I Am The Resurrection as chosen by visitors to the station website during test transmissions.

Based on the ground floor in Laser House, Salford Quays, Manchester the station is owned by GCap Media who also run Capital Gold 1458, 105.4 Century FM annd Digital News Network (Northwest) from the same address. We’ve got the audio at the end of this report.

The daytime line up includes Comedian Paul Tonkinson on breakfast and former-Rock FM jock Mark Kaye on afternoon drive.

Clint Boon, who has been presenting the mid-morning show on The Revolution in Oldham will host the weekday evening show called Music:Response whilst former Galaxy 102 Breakfast jock Adam Cole will also form part of the line-up.

Xfm won the licence after beating off competition from 18 other bidders. An extra bid would have come from GMG but they withdrew from the race at the last minute.
