Leeds United to buy GMG space

GMG Radio have sold the space previously held by jazzfm.com on the Yorkshire MXR Digital Multiplex to Leeds United Football Club. Leeds have announced today they are about to launch a new station called Yorkshire Radio which will be managed by Ben Fry, who was previously head of presentation TLRC stations in Scarborough and Bridlington.

Ken Bates, chairman of Leeds United describes the new 24 hour station station as “A unique station for a unique county”.

Diane Wray, managing director of MXR Digital said: ?I am delighted to welcome this new and exciting service onto the MXR Yorkshire multiplex. I am sure the population of Yorkshire will be thrilled with the new station?s 24-hour-a-day music, news and sports output and will be looking to buy their digital radios.?

Studio work is currently taking place and the station hope to launch soon. GMG Radio are also looking to sell the spot held by jazzfm.com on the South Wales Multiplex.
