Nations & Regions winners

The winners of the 2006 Radio Academy Nations & Regions Awards have been announced. The prizes honour stations with a TSA of under 300,000. Gold Winners from each region are automatically entered into the national Sony Radio Academy Awards category for small stations.

The full list of winners is as follows:

[b]Scotland[/b] – Moray Firth Radio
[b]Northern Ireland[/b] – BBC Radio Foyle
[b]Wales[/b] – Bridge FM

[b]East Anglia[/b] – The Beach
[b]East Midlands[/b] – Rutland Radio
[b]NE & Yorks[/b] – Fresh Radio
[b]North West[/b] – Silk FM
[b]South & SE[/b] – Isle of Wight Radio
[b]South West[/b] – Channel 103

Isle of Wight Radio, Rutland Radio and BBC Radio Foyle especially are celebrating as it's the fourth year in a row that they have been given the accolade.

The Beach scooped top small station in East Anglia for the second year running, whilst in the North East and Yorkshire, it is the second time in three years that Skipton-based Fresh Radio have won the award.

Managing Director Dave Parker said: "Everyone at Fresh Radio is absolutely thrilled to receive this award as it, once again, recognises the extremely hard work put in on a daily basis by our very small team of staff. To win the award in 2004 was tremendous – to win it again this year is a major achievement. It's great to know that the radio industry recognises what we are doing!"
