DJ swaps breakfast for boozer

Cliff Brooks, until recently the breakfast presenter and programme controller at East Lancashire's 2BR, is quitting radio to start his own pub company. "Brooksy" says he has plans to open a new wine bar in Burnley as well as refurbish an existing pub.

Cliff told the [link=http://www.burnleytoday.co.uk]Burnley Express[/link]: "Before working in radio, I had previously worked in six pubs so I do have some experience."

It is understood that he will also DJ in the new venues, which will be run by a company called Local Pub Company Burnley, which he's set up with girlfriend Courtney Dillon.

2BR, owned by The Local Radio Company, has taken on radio veteran Brendan Kearney to front its new breakfast show.
