UCB pulls out of Now bid

UCB has pulled out of committing to providing a service on the proposed local multiplex licence for North East Wales and West Cheshire. It leaves a current bid by Now Digital short of a religious service, resulting in the GCap Media owned company changing their application to include an unspecified local digital sound programme service.

Now Digital proposes that this unspecified service will commence broadcasting within one year of the launch of the multiplex service, and will be broadcast 24 hours a day and at a bit-rate no lower than that at which the religious service was originally proposed to be broadcast (64kbit/s). No other amendments to the application have been proposed.

In light of the fact that Now Digital has been unable to source an alternative service provider for its proposed religious Format, Ofcom has accepted Now Digital’s amendment to its application.

NOW's wishes haven't gone unnoticed, and rival bidder MuxCo have commented on this in their latest blog at http://www.muxco.com/blog/2007/08/22/chchch-changes/
