Big City to become Big Heart?

Heritage FM stations across the Big City network owned by Emap could be re-branded as Heart, if Charles Allen's Global Radio takes over the company. That's according to a speculative report in a newspaper this weekend.

Sources told The Times that Global’s strategy is to “develop national brands”, leading to the suggestions of dumping heritage names such as Hallam, Clyde and Metro. Global refused to comment.

Many industry professionals believe a deal between Global and Emap is only a matter of time. Other bidders for whole or part of the group includes GMG Radio and former Chrysalis boss Phil Riley.
