Radio 2 failed to apologise

The BBC has admited they should have broadcast an apology after Radio 2 early morning presenter Sarah Kennedy made comments about a black man.

Sarah told listeners how she nearly ran over a black man because she could not see him in the dark, during a discussion on road safety last October.
15 people complained and the case went to Ofcom, with the regulator saying the BBC "recognised the potential of this comment to cause offence and advised that, with hindsight, an apology should have been broadcast."
The BBC offered an apology but only in print via its press office.
